BEGINNING BAND:
As part of their general music class, all fourth grade
students take lessons on a band instrument of their
choice for a period of four months. If they decide to
continue taking lessons they become part of the band
program with lessons and rehearsals in addition to
their general music class. These weekly lessons are
given in small groups at a time agreed upon by their
classroom teacher so as to avoid missing any other
important academic instruction. Two rehearsals each
week take place after school for 45 minutes.
Students are released in time to take the 4:00 bus home. The entire fourth grade performs
at the winter holiday concert. Those students who continue to take lessons (Beginning Band)
also perform at the Ice Cream Social in the spring.
