Mr. Anderson Takes the Principal Reading Challenge

Celebrating National Young Readers Week

Since 1989, National Young Readers Week has been an annual event held during the second week of November to raise awareness around the importance of reading.  The event was co-founded by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.  Principals across the country are taking the challenge of being shining examples for literacy by choosing one day to read their heart out all day long, from first bell to the last during National Young Readers Week.  Principal Anderson selected voting day, Tuesday, November 8th, to read all day.  He read the book "The Giving Tree" written by Shel Silverstein to each class from preschool through 8th grade, and then picked a perfect spot in the school hallway to sit and read the entire day.
