Monday is the last day for October’s Book It program. Each student is required to read at least 250 pages to qualify for a FREE Pizza Hut personalized pizza. Coupons will be enclosed in the green folder, attached to your child's October Reading Record. The coupons expire one month from when they were handed out. November’s Book It will begin on Tuesday and will continue until the end of the month. The November goal is 300 pages read. Keep on reading third graders!
On October 17 we began a new incentive period for Accelerated Reader. The students are to take AR tests whenever they finish their books. Their goal is to earn a 70% or higher average on these tests. The AR scores count as part of their reading grade for second quarter. By the end of the quarter their goal is to earn at least 3 points. We will have a special prize for 3 point, 6 point, and 8 point final scores.
It was great to meet with all parents and families at conferences! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please either call or email your child's teacher and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
This year the focus of our annual Cultural Week will be Find Your Magic. Be sure to ask you child what they have experienced throughout the week of November 7-10.
Mid-Quarter Progress Reports: Watch for the mid-quarter progress notes stapled in the Assignment book on November 16th. Once you have looked over your child’s progress report, please sign and return the bottom half to school. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Keep in mind that the students have one more half of the quarter to work on their grades and assignments.
Mitchell Museum of the Native American
The students are looking forward to a wonderful time on our field trip next Friday to the Mitchell Museum. If you will be joining us as a chaperone, please be at school by 8:50 a.m.
Thank you so much, in advance, to all of the room parents for helping out and bringing snacks and drinks for our class. We really appreciate it! Should be a great day tomorrow! Remember the festivities begin around 1:45 p.m.
Update / Green Folder
Due to the short week before Thanksgiving, green folders will not be sent home that week.
